Commitment to CSR
Since
2000, Allen & Overy has embarked on the "Values into
Action" program, to identify and foster the values that
are important to us as a firm.
One of the core values identified is "Respecting
and including every individual".
This includes
embracing diversity and encouraging and supporting people
to play a part in their wider community.
The
firm has a positive commitment to the promotion
of a policy of equal opportunity for all current and prospective
employees and partners.
This is supported by the adoption and implementation
of equal opportunity policies in selection, recruitment and
promotion at all levels of the firm (including clear policies
against harassment).
Additionally,
Allen & Overy is committed to helping the communities
in which we operate. Our Pro Bono Community Affairs Program
is an important part of who we are as a firm and the values
we espouse. The
broad range of initiatives we support is testimony to this.
Currently,
the Hong Kong office supports a variety of community projects
and schemes, partnering with various social sectors. We are currently supporting several charities on an ongoing
basis. These
include Helpers For Domestic Helpers (Social & Economic),
Enlighten (Health), St. Mary's Home for the Aged (Elderly)
and Hans Andersen Club (Children).
Worldwide,
over the last year, pro bono work
was undertaken in 21 of Allen & Overy's offices, with
volunteers completing 48,000 hours of service, equivalent to
GBP10.8m in billable time.
