Community Business is delighted to present the Diversity & Inclusion in Asia 2008 Conference taking place on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 November 2008 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong .

Building on the success of previous conferences in 2005 and 2007, this conference is the primary forum for discussion on diversity issues as they relate to Asia . It attracts senior business leaders and diversity professionals from across the Asia region.

The conference will focus on key workplace diversity issues including: gender, culture, generation, disability as well as sexual orientation — and will look at how these issues play out in the Asia region. Through a combination of plenary and breakout sessions, delegates will be given the opportunity to hear from thought leaders, learn from the experience of leading corporations and discuss issues pertinent to the region.

Details: 

Employees are a key stakeholder group, and often times they are also a company's most important asset. If carried out strategically, Employee Volunteering (EV) is a tool for companies to attract, retain, and develop their staff. It is also an excellent way to making a difference to the local community.

The workshop is designed to help businesses to develop a well-structured and strategic EV programme that meets business priorities, reflect employees' interests and skills and addresses community needs.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Engage all levels of staff in volunteering 
  • Use EV to benefit the business and its staff 
  • Apply a simple seven-step EV framework to maximize the benefits of EV
  • Organise, manage and measure the impact of volunteer projects

Community Business is conducting a series of 4 workshops based on its successful guidebook, "Getting Started on CSR - A Practical Guide for small, medium and large companies in Hong Kong ". The workshops are as follow:

2) Getting Started in CSR Workshop 2: Integrate CSR into Organisational Strategy and Operations

The Community Business Leadership Team ( CBLT) is a unique group of senior business leaders in Hong Kong .  It represents companies committed to embracing corporate social responsibility (CSR) and impacting change in Hong Kong . It provides a networking forum for senior business leaders to share best practice on CSR, takes collective action to impact change on CSR related issues and promotes the adoption of responsible business practices by the wider business community in Hong Kong .

Adrian Hodges, MD, International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF)
Adrian Hodges specialises in issues of corporate responsibility as they relate to international business strategy and practice. He has managerial experience in business, local government and non-governmental organisations. He joined IBLF in 1998 and before becoming Managing Director held a number of positions, including Director, the Americas and Director, Marketing and Communications.

Prior to IBLF, Adrian was worldwide Head of Corporate Communications for retailer Body Shop International and before that Director of Communications and Marketing for Business in the Community.
