Community Business is pleased to announce the completion of Hong Kong¡¦s first Employee Volunteer Week (10-16 May). Sixty seven companies of all sizes and industries took part in this campaign to encourage more companies in Hong Kong to embrace employee volunteering and to recognise the benefits ¡V not just for the community, but for business too. Background

Community Business (CB) and its member companies, which form the Community Business Leadership Team (CBLT), are dedicated to raising awareness of employee volunteering as a business issue.  Drawing on the success of its work in employee volunteering, including the ENGAGE Journey of Opportunity Action Day, Employee Volunteering Workshop, and Employee Volunteering Guide, as well as its previous public campaigns, including Work-Life Balance Day, Community Business and the CBLT seek to increase the impact of collective action in the community by launching the first ever Employee Volunteer (EV) Week, Sunday 10 May 2009 ¡V Saturday 16 May 2009.


Objectives

  • Raise the morale of Hong Kong and its business community by encouraging a spirit of serving the community
  • Raise the profile of employee volunteering as a triple win ¡V benefits to business, employees and the community
  • Encourage a large number of companies in Hong Kong to make a collective impact on the community
  • Measure the impact of collective action on the community (by quantifying the number of volunteers, volunteer hours, etc.)


Benefits of Participating in EV Week

Particularly during a period of economic recession, EV Week is a practical Corporate Social Responsibility activity offering immense benefits to companies and the community at large, including:

Companies participating in EV Week also receive:

  • Branding: Company logos are displayed on the EV Week website and campaign materials.
  • Media Exposure:  Companies receive acknowledgement in all press releases (in English and Chinese).  Participating Companies may also be acknowledged in advertisements in the press.
 


How to Join EV Week

We encourage all companies in Hong Kong ¡V large or small ¡V to take part in EV Week.  Simply sign up click here and encourage your employees to volunteer during the week of 10-16 May.  Your company logo and name will be added to the growing list of participating companies currently featured on our website.  For more about EV Week, visit the EV Week FAQs page.
