The Community Business Leadership Team (CBLT) is a group of business leaders whose aim is to help raise awareness and thereby promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the community, making Hong Kong a better place for us to work and live.

The CBLT has identified employee volunteering as a key CSR issue for Hong Kong businesses. As such, the CBLT and Community Business are pleased to launch the first ever Employee Volunteer (EV) Week in Hong Kong, which will take place between Sunday 10 May and Saturday 16 May 2009.

The purpose of EV Week is to mobilise the corporate sector to join together in a local campaign to make an impact on the community by promoting employee volunteering. Particularly during a period of economic recession, EV Week is a practical CSR activity that enables companies to demonstrate their commitment to the community during difficult times.

We encourage you to join the many companies in Hong Kong who will be participating in EV Week by organising or allowing your employees to volunteer in the community during the week of 10-16 May. The employee volunteer activity may take place within or outside of work hours – what is important here is that companies are encouraging this activity and recognising that employee volunteering is beneficial to the community, your employees and your business alike. Many companies already support employee volunteering through their own programmes or policies allowing employees time of to volunteer. EV Week is simply a continuation of this support by bringing together numerous companies to make an impact on the community and encourage other companies to take notice.
