a bridge to employment for disadvantaged individuals through various
workforce development programs. Manpower is also dedicated to increasing
awareness of, and opposition to, labor practices that exploit individuals,
particularly those that are vulnerable.
Originally from Australia, Paul has over sixteen years of business
experience gained throughout the Asia Pacific region, of which ten
have been in Hong Kong. He holds qualifications in Personnel / Industrial

Subha Barry is Managing
Director and global head of Diversity and Inclusion for Merrill Lynch & Co.,
Inc. In this role, she is responsible for managing and integrating
existing and new diversity efforts across the corporation globally.
Ms. Barry joined Merrill Lynch in 1989 and spent 13 years in the
Private Client Group as a highly successful and best practice Financial
Advisor and Branch Manager. In 2001, she created the firm’s Multicultural
and Diversified Business Development group to help establish Merrill
Lynch as the preeminent wealth management firm among diverse and
multicultural markets. She headed the group until 2005 when she was
appointed to her current role.
Ms. Barry holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Bombay University,
India, a Master of Business and Public Management and a Master of
Accounting from Rice University, Houston.
She serves on the Business Women’s Advisory Board of Diversity
Best Practices, a Working Mother Media company. She is a member of
the Corporate Circle Advisory Committee of the National Council on
Research for Women and on the Advisory Board for VOICE, Hyperion’s
imprint for women.. She is the Chairperson of the Christian & Timbers
Inclusion Practice Board of Advisors. She serves on the Boards of
The Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the Princeton HealthCare System
Foundation.
Ms. Barry is an active mentor of women both within her community
and at Merrill Lynch, where she is a member of the firm’s Diversity
and Inclusion Council. A three time cancer survivor, she supports
and coaches newly diagnosed patients with coping strategies and work/life
balance. In 1997, she was the winner of the Princeton YWCA’s Tribute
to Women in Industry Award. In 2000, she won the Women’s Fund of
New Jersey Award for Outstanding Achievement in Banking and Finance.
In 2006, she was inducted into the New York City’s Academy of Woman
Achievers.
Ms. Barry lives in New Jersey with her husband and 2 children.

Geri Carden is a Diversity
and Gender Inclusion Specialist, living and working in Japan. She has
been a champion and advocate of the importance of diversity since her
undergraduate days. She holds her first degree in Economics and an
MSc in International Employment Relations from the London School of
Economics and Political Science. She has a background initially as
an economist and then as an Equity Trader within the Yen equity market.
She has a firm academic and ethical belief in the importance of diverse
group integration into managerial structures as a means of empowering
both individuals and organizations. She approaches her diversity work
within Japan addressing the importance of organizational change and
it’s effective management as a vehicle for diversity and inclusion.
She has worked for a variety of investment banks UK government offices
and local health authorities. She is currently carrying out extensive
research into the working lives of Japanese women and the importance
of legislative and cultural change as Japan faces a decline in its
traditional workforce. She currently offers research, consultancy,
training and executive coaching to organizations within both Japan
and Asia. |

Ella Chan is the Market
Intelligence Manager for Asia Pacific and is based in Hong Kong. In
her current role, she is responsible for all matters relating to market
intelligence, from understanding the market intelligence requirements
for the theatre, research contract negotiation, to providing necessary
market share and market size forecast for business planning.
In Ella’s career life, she has worked in few countries. Started
off as an engineering trainee at Emerson Electric in the UK. Then
worked as a Project Engineer at Hong Kong Telecom in Hong Kong where
she was part of the engineering team to design the communications
network for Taipei Rapid Transit Railway. Then she moved to Vancouver,
Canada, where she was a Bid Manager at Nortel. Came back to Hong
Kong in 1998, worked as a Bid Manager for MCI WorldCom. Finally joined
Cisco in 1999 as a Bid Manager, prior to the current role, she was
working in the Sales Operations Department.
Ella holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
from Loughborough University, UK and an MBA from Warwick University,
UK.
Being an engineer by training, a mother of two, a manager, and a
WAN Lead for Cisco Hong Kong office, she has a lot of interest in
gender diversity, work life balance, girls in technology and corporate
responsibility.

In October 2006, Mr. Chong
Chan-yau joined the University of Hong Kong as the Director of Student
Development, Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS).
Mr. Chong is a graduate from the Faculty of Arts, University of
Hong Kong in 1981. He obtained a master degree in Analysis,
Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School
of Economics and Political Science.
Before joining the University of Hong Kong, he has served in the
Hong Kong Government as an Administrative Officer, and as the Executive
Director of Oxfam Hong Kong, an international development and relief
organization.
Mr. Chong is active in promoting civil society in Hong Kong. He
is also an advocate for disability rights and served on the Rehabilitation
Advisory Committee to the Government of The Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region. He is currently the President of the Hong Kong Blind Union
and the Vice-Chairperson of Joint Council for the Physically & Mentally
Disabled.
Mr. Chong received The Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 1991,
the MBE award in 1995 for community service, and the Poverty Alleviation
Award by the Poverty Foundation in China in 2004.

she has recently acquired a job aligned with some of her highest
values. Ms. Curtis, who currently lives in Bangalore, India, is responsible
for developing and executing strategy for Cisco's Diversity & Inclusion
programs across the Asia Pacific region.
Ms. Curtis has held a variety of positions throughout Cisco for
the past 6+ years, and worked as both an employee and a consultant
with a number of other multi-national companies before joining Cisco.
Her expertise is in leading large-scale global organizational change
initiatives, creating talent development architectures and strategies,
and cross-cultural integration programs. She holds a Masters Degree
in Organizational Development (USA), and Bachelor Degrees in Psychology & Philosophy
(USA & United Kingdom), as well as a number of certifications
for programs related to talent assessment and people development.
When not travelling across Asia for Cisco, she can be found on the
yoga mat, surfing or running marathons.

Asia, Pacific Region as well as President of BP China. Gary is on
the Board of the China-US Centre for Sustainable Development as well
as the Board of Directors of the China Business for Sustainable Development.
Gary was awarded China’s “Friendship Award” in the autumn of 2003

Lilian Fandriana is the

Lilian joined BP in 1976 as an engineering intern and has since
worked in a variety of operations and project managing roles in both
upstream, chemical stream as well as corporate commercial and planning.
She has handled various posts in the US, China, Trinidad and Indonesia.
Lilian was the project manager for Trinidad LNG Train2 & 3, and was
the General Manager and President of BP Netherlands.
She has a Master degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University,
and Mastere Specialist of Economics Intelligence and Project Management
from CERAM University, France.

Joanna Fielding is Chief
Financial Officer, South East Asia for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB),
based out of Singapore. In July, she will relocate to Shanghai to be
CFO of SCB in China. Joanna is also on the Board of Prime Financial
Holdings Limited and a member of SCB’s Executive Forum. Joanna joined
SCB in 1997 and has worked in London, New York and Singapore, and has
also been responsible for leading teams in India, Hong Kong, Malaysia
and Dubai. In November 2006, in recognition of her successes in her
own career and in the development and coaching of others, Joanna was
asked to Chair the Group Women’s Council. Working alongside the Group
D&I Council, the Women’s Council is tasked with driving the gender

JoAnn Heffernan Heisen is
Corporate Vice President and the Company’s Chief Global Diversity Officer.
Ms. Heisen joined Johnson & Johnson in 1989 as assistant treasurer
and the corporation's first Investor Relations officer. In 1991, Ms.
Heisen was named treasurer of Johnson & Johnson and became the first
female officer. She subsequently served as corporate controller before
being named vice president, chief information officer, and a member
of Johnson & Johnson’s Executive Committee in January 1997. Ms. Heisen
was the first woman to serve on the Executive Committee. She became
the Company’s first Chief Global Diversity Officer in 2006. Ms. Heisen
established the Women’s Leadership Initiative, which began in 1995
and since has become a model of success for diversity and inclusion
within Johnson & Johnson. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson in 1989,
Ms. Heisen was vice president, Corporate Affairs, at Primerica Corporation,
and a member of the Executive Committee. She had earlier served as
chief financial officer for Kenmill Textile Corporation and as a second
vice president and commercial lending officer with The Chase Manhattan
Bank. Ms. Heisen is a graduate of Syracuse University and holds a B.A.
in economics. She is past president of the Financial Women's Association
of New York, was named Honoree of the Princeton YWCA's 1995 Tribute
to Women in Industry, and was recipient of the 1996 Johnson & Johnson
Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Award.
Among her many community and professional associations, Ms. Heisen
is a member of the Board of Directors of the Women's Research and
Education Institute (WREI), which provides members of the U.S. Congress
with research on key issues for women, and she serves as Chair of
the WREI Corporate Advisory Council. She is a member of the Advisory
Board of The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at
Syracuse University and a member of the Economic Club of New York.
Ms. Heisen is a member of the board of directors of The Vanguard
Group, Inc., and each of its 125 mutual funds. In addition, she is
a member of the board of trustees for the University Medical Center
at Princeton. In 2005, Ms. Heisen received the first Jill Ker Conway
Women in Business Leadership Award, presented by Smith College. In
1994, she received Syracuse University's Distinguished Alumni Award

Sandy Liang is currently

Shalini Mahtani is Founder
and Chief Executive Officer of Community Business. Shalini works with
leadership in some of the world’s largest companies in CSR on matters

in the workplace. Shalini has written numerous publications and
is a frequent speaker on these subjects. In 2005, Shalini was awarded
the “Chief Executives Commendation for Community Service” by the Hong
Kong Government for her contribution to the ethnic minorities of Hong
Kong. In 2007, Shalini was named Asia 21 Young Leader by the United
States’ Asia Society.
In a personal capacity, Shalini is a founding board director of
The Women’s Foundation in Hong Kong. Shalini is also founder

Recently she worked closely with D&I teams in India, Malaysia and China,
hosting D&I awareness courses to engage a wider employee base. Hamidah
is herself from a very diverse origin – paternal family is from India
and was involved in the early Spice trade and her maternal family is
from Pakistan. She is born and bred in Malaysia and speaks English,
Malay and Urdu fluently. She has a 13 year old daughter from whom she
continues to learn real-time generational diversity and inclusion.

Paul Masi, who is Merrill
Lynch's Country Head and Chief Executive Officer for Australia, also

and a member of the Asia Pacific Region Executive Committee.
Paul joined Merrill Lynch in Australia in 2000 and was previously
Country Co-Head and Head of Australasian Equities before moving to
Hong Kong in 2003 as head of Asia Pacific Region Equity Markets and
Equity Trading. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Paul was Head of
Equities for ABN AMRO Australia which he joined in 1982 when it was
Meares and Phillips and subsequently, BZW Australia.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and
has a diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia. Since 1995,
Paul has sat on several Australian Stock Exchange committees, including

joining Goldman Sachs. While at law firm Masons in Hong Kong, Kay

Kay joined the board of The Women's Foundation, a Hong Kong-based
non-profit organisation, the mission of which is to promote the full

diversity. Simon is an advisor and consultant to the Employers Forum
on Disability, Broadcasters and Creative Industries Disability Network
and the Disability Rights Commission.
Simon is highly experienced in developing and delivering disability
and diversity training programs. His reputation is for being challenging
yet humorous; getting people to think further and deeper than the
expected, but remain focused on practical solutions. Simon regularly
runs workshops with the UK's major organisations on disability issues
and has worked as a writer, public speaker, producer and presenter.
He enjoys comedy and has written sketches for BBC Radio 4 and Channel
4. He has been the film critic for Disability Now, written for BBC
Ouch and the correspondent for the World Institute on Disability.
In August 2005, he produced and starred in a sell out Edinburgh Fridge
comedy show called Abnormally Funny People. Simon has personal experience

Margaret Regan is the President
and CEO of The FutureWork Institute, a global virtual web of alliances
which models and co-creates flexible, inclusive workplaces. Its members
are from the former Global Diversity Practice of Towers Perrin, and
the Institute is a Strategic Alliance of Towers Perrin. The Institute
operates on four continents—North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America--as
a global incubator of innovation and change in addressing current and
future workplace and marketplace trends and issues.
Ms. Regan has studied human resource practices in Japan, worked
in Paris on French-American mergers, educated global executive teams
on cross-cultural differences, conducted women’s studies in Germany,
France, the Netherlands, the UK and the US. She has led Institute
projects which conducted employee research and focus goups in Hong
Kong, Bangalore, Tokyo, Mexico, Chile, Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam,
Paris and other major cities.
As a member of the World Future Society, Ms. Regan is often asked
to bring to her keynote speeches and consulting assignments a perspective
on the next 10 years and the implications for workforce change management.
She has appeared on NBC-TV’s Today Show, CBS This Morning, NBC Nightly
News, CNN, and WNYC-TV to comment on emerging workforce trends. She
has been frequently quoted in Fortune, The Wall Street
Journal, Miami Herald and The Washington Post and
is currently featured on Close-Up TV as the CEO of “one of the most

Ms. Regan was formerly a Principal at Towers Perrin where she founded

of the New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the VP of Human
Resources for Con Edison, one of the largest utilities in the US.

Vice-President (Sales
and Marketing) for Microsoft in Asia Pacific, Ken Wye Saw is responsible
for the sales and marketing functions for the regional operations
at Microsoft. Prior to this role, Ken was the President for Southeast
Asia for two years since October 2004, and had held direct responsibilities
for providing strategic direction with Microsoft’s marketing, sales,
operational and business development efforts in emerging markets.
Ken was also the General Manager for Communications Sector for Microsoft
in Asia Pacific, Greater China and Japan regions from 2001 to 2004
where he was responsible for driving vertical sales strategies for
network service providers. This entailed working closely with telecommunication
companies, Internet Service Providers and Application Service Providers
to take advantage of cost effective Microsoft based solutions. Equally
important was his focus on working together with the services providers
in creating new markets and services for connected businesses and
consumers.
Ken was previously Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore from
1997 to 2001.
Actively involved in the local Singapore IT community, Ken serves
on the board of the Infocomm Development Authority and on the advisory
committees of several Singapore-based institutions of higher education.
Ken had also served as the Chairman of the Singapore Infocomm Technology
Federation. He was also with the National Computer Board for 14 years,
his last appointment there being Assistant Chief Executive (Industry).
His notable contributions during his National Computer Board days
include playing a key role in driving national projects such as Singapore
ONE and IT2000.
Ken graduated from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom

Atsuko “Ako” Seriawa assumed
her current position as Pacific Area Director, Diversity & Inclusion,
Dow Chemical Pacific Limited, in 2006.
Seriawa joined Dow Chemical Japan in 1974 as a sales assistant after
receiving a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from Occidental College,
Los Angeles, California, United States of America. She was appointed
as epoxy field sales person in the Tokyo Sales Office in 1975, the
first woman to hold such a position for Dow Japan.
In 1980 she was named senior sales person for Designed Products in
the Tokyo Sales Office.
Ako became product marketing manager for Designed Products for Dow
Japan in 1983, becoming the first woman to be named marketing manager
in Dow’s Pacific operation.
She was appointed product marketing manager in Specialty Chemicals
for Dow USA in 1988, living in and working from Midland, Michigan,
U.S.A. In 1990 she moved back to Japan, and in 1991 she was named commercial
manager for Liquid Separations for Dow Japan, again becoming the first
woman to receive the title within Dow Pacific operations. She held
that position until 1999 when she was named area director for Customer
Interface Group in Dow Pacific, leading Customer Services and the Customer
Service Support group for 13 countries in the Pacific.
Seriawa was the recipient of the Genesis Award in 1998, presented to
employees who have demonstrated exceptional people development skills,
and started the Pacific Women’s Innovation Network (WIN), a global
employee network focused on growing women’s contributions at Dow and
enabling them to lead fulfilled lives. |
